Two people were injured in Abu Dhabi after debris fell in the city following the successful interception of Iranian air attacks by the United Arab Emirates’ air defense systems, the government said on Monday.

A Jordanian national sustained minor injuries, while another Egyptian national sustained moderate injuries, officials said.

Officials confirmed that the debris fell as a result of intercepted missiles or drones, and that the incidents were contained without further escalation.

Emergency services responded promptly to both locations to provide medical assistance and secure the areas.

The UAE’s Ministry of Defense had earlier announced that its air defenses were responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran.

“MOD asserts that the sounds heard are the result of the Ari Defense Systems intercepting missiles and drones,” it said in a statement.
