Two killed, three injured as missile intercepted in Abu Dhabi: Media office

Two people were killed and three others were injured by falling debris after air defenses intercepted a ballistic missile in Abu Dhabi, the authorities said on Thursday.

“Abu Dhabi authorities have responded to an incident involving falling debris in Sweihan street, following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defense systems,” the media office said on X.

The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals, leaving three others injured and caused damage to a number of cars.

The media office later announced that the two people killed from the missile debris were Pakistani and Indian nationals, while the injured included Emirati, Jordanian, and Indian nationals.

The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on February 28 that killed its supreme leader and triggered a war in the Middle East.

Tehran has since responded with drone and missile attacks across the region, including strikes on neighboring Gulf countries that say they are neither involved in the conflict nor have allowed their territory to be used to launch attacks.
