The Saudi Interpol warned on Saturday, based on information it received from the British Interpol, about fraudulent websites selling fake tickets for London 2012 Olympic Games, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The websites that were listed as fraudulent were: www.euroteam.net, www.tixnet.com, www.olympicticket.info, www.euroteam.info, www.euroteamtickets.com, www.2012tickets.org, www.londonsummergames.net, www.londonsummergames.org, www.euroteam.travel, www.worldticketservice.net.

The Saudi Interpol added that the tickets can only be purchased through official website www.tickets.london2012.com or the official bodies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dozens of fans turned out to the Olympic ground on Saturday morning to find out that their tickets were fake, according to UK media reports.

Archery fans were the first to be duped into buying bogus tickets and were denied entrance to the archery competitions.

A London 2012 spokeswoman confirmed to The Independent that "there are a number of unofficial websites claiming to sell tickets.”

“We therefore advise people to be extremely cautious and vigilant when attempting to buy tickets and only purchase from an official source - if in doubt there is a url checker on our website which will identify official sources," she said.

She added that the website liveolympictickets.com selling unauthorized Olympic tickets was shut down.
