Kuwaiti businessman becomes talk of the town after Nottingham Forrest purchase

Kuwaiti businessman and former chairman of Qadsia SC Fawaz al-Hasawi has become the talk of the town since starting negotiations for the purchase of the English football club Nottingham Forest and his subsequent attempts to attract the most prominent players in Kuwait to England.

The management of Qadsia SC, nicknamed Yellow Fort, accused al-Hassawi of attempting to harm the interests of the club by trying to attract several of its players to play for Nottingham Forest like striker Bader al-Mutawa, one of the club’s and the national team’s most famous footballers.

The management is not only concerned about the drain of players and the way it is bound to affect the club’s future, but it is also aware of the negative impact of Hassawi’s withdrawal from the club.

In addition to being its chairman, Hassawi was one of the club’s most important supporters and played a major role in its past achievements and the contracts its players signed with other internationally-acclaimed clubs.

The Kuwait City-based Qadsia SC, founded in 1960, is the most popular club in Kuwait and one of the Gulf’s most famous.
