As part of several attempts to extend a helping hand to victims of the Syrian regime’s violent clampdown, the UAE has established a hospital in Jordan to receive Syrian injured refugees crossing the border.

Located in the northeastern governorate of Mafraq, the closest to the border with Syria, the Emirati-Jordanian Field Hospital has been receiving 400-500 refugees daily since the start of the revolution in 2011.

The hospital has offered a safe haven for all Syrians who choose to flee to Jordan and has managed to treat several types of injuries, including critical.

“I managed to reach the hospital after much effort,” one of the Syrian patients, who was being treated at the hospital told Al Arabiya.

The patient explained that he was hit by a bullet that he believed might have contained biological toxins.

“I underwent a surgical operation and the infection was treated,” he added.

The hospital, supervised by the Emirati Red Crescent, contains a dental clinic in addition to the usual medical specialties, as well as rehabilitation center. The hospital is also equipped with an Intensive Care Unit.

Part of the hospital is dedicated to children who cross the border with their families. This wing includes an education center and a recreation area.
