Iranian champions Sepahan and Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia drew 0-0 in their Asian Champions League quarterfinal first leg in Iran on Wednesday.

Both sides created chances, but could not find the net.

Al Ahli’s Colombian midfielder Jairo Fabian Palomino Sierra headed well from an early corner, but Sepahan goalkeeper Reza Mohammadi was there to save.

Sepahan’s Mohammad Reza Khalatbari blasted the ball goalwards in the 12th minute, but it rebounded off the crossbar.

His Montenegrin team mate, Radomir Dalovic, tried a low shot, but that was blocked by Al Ahli goalkeeper Almuaiouf Abdullah Ibraham.

Al Ahli captain Taisir Al Jassim got involved with a decent shot, but again ‘keeper Reza Mohammadi stopped it.

In the second half, Abdulrahim Jezawi had a great opportunity, but his left-footed shot from around 25 metres went wide.

Jassim later raced into the box to shoot, but ‘keeper Mohammadi raced out to block.

Sepahan’s substitute forward Xhevahir Sukaj was fed a fine, long pass, but his weak shot was easily stopped.

In added time, Jairo Palomino took a free kick, but Mohammadi dived to knock the ball away.

The two sides meet again in Jeddah on October 2.
