Beirut dressed in light for festive Christmas season
Bright lights and special decorations up around the city of Beirut make the Christmas experience in Lebanon a unique one. In this multi-sect country, the festive season offers also an occasional opportunity for an economic boost following major drawbacks, especially in the tourism sector.
“This year we have difficulties due to the situation, the war is next to us in Syria, and so we are suffering. We lost most of our tourists that come by car,” Minister of Tourism Fadi Aboud said.
“Our friends from the Gulf are not coming to Lebanon, in my opinion it is purely politics,” he added.
As the festive season draws nearer , Lebanese politicians tone down their violent critiques, paving the way for people to enjoy the glowing the lights and the cheerful music which has created a warm momentum for the holiday.
Despite the decline of the tourism sector, people are still enjoying the festive spirit which has lighted the country voicing their optimism for the upcoming holiday.
