Video: Putin tours S-300 missiles factory
The Russian president has taken a tour of an arms factory that produces some of the most powerful air and anti-ballistic defense weapons, including the S-300 missile system planned for delivery to the Syrian regime.
The tour of the factory comes at a time when Moscow is at loggerheads with the United States over an arms deal with Syria.
Russia agreed in 2010 to supply the advanced air defense system to the Syrian president who is battling to survive a rebellion against his rule.
Putin insists Russia’s contracts with Syria were legal and were not intended to upset the military balance.
He praised the S-300 missiles system as one of the best in the world but added: “The contract was signed several years ago. It has not been fulfilled yet.”
