US President Donald Trump on Friday denied using derogatory language to describe Haiti and African nations during a White House meeting with bipartisan lawmakers on immigration.
Some media outlets also reported that Trump said in reference to Haitians, “take them out.”
Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said “take them out.” Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians. Probably should record future meetings - unfortunately, no trust!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 12, 2018
A senator present at a White House immigration meeting said Trump used vulgar language to describe African countries, Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, on Friday told reporters that Trump questioned why the US would accept more immigrants from Haiti and that he referenced "shithole countries" in Africa.
