Libya's internationally recognized government has appointed a new chairman of the state National Oil Corp (NOC), its deputy prime minister said on Wednesday, after a political conflict over control of the company hit the vital energy sector.

The new chairman is Al-Mabrook Bou Seif, deputy premier Abdelrahman al-Taher told reporters in Vienna, where he will attend the OPEC meeting on Thursday. He gave no further details.

Libya has two governments and parliaments vying for legitimacy since the recognized government lost the capital
Tripoli in August to a rival group, which installed its own prime minister and assembly.
