A much-anticipated Mideast outpost of the Louvre now has its first director, but visitors will have to wait until next year to visit the new art museum.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority said on Tuesday the Louvre branch in the UAE capital will host its first visitors in 2017.

It’s the latest delay in the project, which was originally slated to open in 2012 and until recently was expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The tourism authority named Manuel Rabate as its first director. The Frenchman has since 2013 served as CEO of Agence France-Museums, which is charged with carrying out France’s commitments in developing the museum.
