The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has uncovered the details of the 4th Knowledge Summit taking place on November 21-22, 2017 in the Dubai World Trade Center.

This year’s topic is “Knowledge and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, where the summit will thoroughly discuss not only the positive effects of the revolution on different sectors, but will also tackle the negative consequences associated with it.

“Countries that are not prepared for the Fourth Industrial Revolution will face problems”, according to MBRF’s CEO Jamal bin Huwaireb, who added that the Knowledge Summit includes “Knowledge Week”, which gives students from the public and private sectors access to the different aspects of knowledge through panel discussions and workshops.

Global Knowledge Index

MBRF has also introduced the Global Knowledge Index, the first of its kind in the world, developed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The index’s finding are set to be unveiled at Knowledge Summit.

“Built on a robust statistical infrastructure, the Global Knowledge Index is one of the largest knowledge-focused instruments in the world,” said Hany Torky, Director of the Knowledge 4 All Project and Chief Technical Advisor at UNDP. “The Index has been expanded to cover an additional sector this year – ‘general enabling environment’ – along with its main sectors, which are pre-university education; technical vocational education and training; higher education; information and communications technology; economy; and, finally research, development and innovation. The Index will monitor knowledge-related metrics in 131 countries; producing data and reports than can benefit researchers and decision makers around the world.”

MBRF and UNDP had previously collaborated on the Knowledge 4 all Project and launched the Arab Knowledge Index in its two versions in 2015 and 2016 and the Arab Reading Index in 2016.
