Saudi Aramco, Mazda, and AIST to develop advanced fuel efficient engine

Saudi Aramco Technologies Company, Mazda, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) announced on Wednesday a combined research program to develop advanced engines that are fuel efficient.

Ahmad O. al-Khowaiter, Saudi Aramco’s chief technology officer said that the cooperative underscores a “shared commitment to delivering advanced technology solutions that make a significant impact on real-world issues, notably a sustainable, affordable mobility future.”

Saudi Aramco which has been keen on exploring sustainable projects, initiated the agreement as part of its global transport technology program.

The agreement states that Saudi Aramco will provide low carbon-content new fuels, and Mazda will provide high-efficiency advanced prototype engine, and the entire research will take place and get tested in AIST headquarters in Tokyo.

The expected time of delivery of the project is supposed to be in fiscal 2020, according to Saudi Aramco’s website.
