People are loving this Bahraini singer’s cover song of ‘No Woman, No Cry’

A cover song by Bahraini singer Mohammed al-Bakri of ‘No Woman, No Cry’ has gained praise since being posted on YouTube this week.

The Gulf-style cover of the famous Bob Marley classic song was performed by an all-male choir dressed in traditional thobes who played on traditional instruments from the Arabian gulf like the oud guitar and hennaed drums.

Some of the performers even got up to dance to the reggae tune.

The video has been viewed more than 178,000 thousand times so far and was even picked up by international news outlets like RT.

This is actually not the first time a Gulf rendition of the Marley song as Moroccan singer Jamila sang a version of it in 2013 as an intro for a viral song at the time.
