Oliver Kahn, who was recently hired by the Saudi Football Federation and the General Sports Authority to establish a specialized academy for goalkeepers in the Kingdom, told Al Arabiya that he had been able to follow some matches in the Saudi league and also in Jamaica.

The legendary German goalkeeper praised his cooperation with the Saudi Football Federation saying: "I am very honored to participate in this project and it fits perfectly with my company G:oal Play in the training of goalkeepers”.

“It was really the fastest negotiations for me and I was impressed by the keenness of Saudi officials as they were serious in their efforts to develop the Saudi team and prepare their team for the World Cup,” Kahn said on the negotiations with the Saudi Football Federation to come on board.

“I plan on visiting Saudi Arabia every month as I am in charge of the academy and I will work with the Saudi team's guard and I will have the biggest guard trainers in my academy,” Kahn added.

The move to hire Kahn comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to solve their problem of goalkeeping in recent years. Since the retirement of Mohammed al-Daei, several names have followed the Saudi goalkeeper but none have succeeded in imposing themselves as a permanent guard of the first team.
