VIDEO: Pakistan’s astronomy society that seeks to create awareness about stars

An astronomical society in Lahore is trying to entice members of the public to take a closer look at the moon, sun, galaxies and bunch of stars.

Umair Asim, President of Lahore’s Astronomical Society, says astronomical cameras installed at the society can take very high quality images.

“Telescope, Celestron C14, can collect astronomical data of activities taking place inside the stars. It can also capture group activities, temperature, and chemical elements,” he says.

Studying the sun

According to Asim, the sun can also be studied using the telescope. “It can take sun’s picture in various frames and record movie,” he says.

Asim says people’s interest in astronomy is growing and that the society is looking to enhance this interest.
