Trump to Muslims from Riyadh: I am with you

“Today, we begin a new chapter of partnership with Saudi Arabia,” US President Donald Trump said during the Islamic-American summit in Riyadh which was attended by leaders from 55 Muslim-majority countries.

Before this summit, the historic Saudi-US summit and the GCC-US summits were held. Trump’s special moment was when he spoke before Muslim leaders about his intention to cooperate with Muslim nations to fight evil forces and terrorism.

“The path to peace begins right here, on this ancient soil, in this sacred land,” Trump said about Saudi Arabia where the pillars of the new alliance were established.

Saudi King Salman accompanied his guest Trump and Arab and Muslim leaders, like Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, to the inauguration of the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology which aims to combat extremism and not only terrorism. This is a major step internationally and there is great significance in the fact that it’s launched from Riyadh. Trump realized this as he described the inauguration of the center as a “historic step.”

While addressing the Islamic-American summit, King Salman clearly said: “We will cooperate in ending terrorism and extremism in all its shapes and forms,” adding that some Muslims seek to present a distorted image of our religion.

The king’s aimed at the Iranian nation when he said: “We do not blame the Iranian people for the crimes of their regime,” adding that there was no difference between al-Qaeda and, for instance, the Houthi movement.

Together we prevail

The three summits in Riyadh were organized under the slogan “Together We Prevail.” Riyadh’s message to the Khomeini republic is clear and it must have been clearly conveyed to the mother of fundamental groups, the Muslim Brotherhood and its branches. It seems the Brotherhood did not like this message as they spoke ill of it among each other.

Saudi Arabia is the cradle of Islam as it has the Two Holy Mosques in Mecca and Medina. Therefore, there will also be determination to confront terrorism inside the kingdom.

Those who support Zawahiri, Baghdadi, Nasrallah or Houthis are people with a dubious past and are being pursued by the Saudi state. The same applies to those who justify the acts of these people.

Those who incite against women, harm people and interfere in their affairs under the pretext of accountability – even when there is a system of rules and regulations to address this – will be punished. Those who spread rumors and contribute to the Brotherhood propaganda, particularly via WhatsApp and Twitter, will also be combated because they help create extremism.

Clarity, decisiveness and speed are the best means to confront terror and extremism. In other words, the Brotherhood and Khomeini supporters must be very careful from now on whether within or outside Saudi Arabia. It’s a different world now!
