Diplomatic Avenue discusses the situations in Syria and Sudan' Darfur
Friday, 30 May 2014
This month’s Diplomatic Avenue episode features an interview with Stephen J. Rapp, the United States ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues in the Office of Global Criminal Justice, discussing Washington's position after a failed French resolution at the U.N. Security Council.
A second interview features Hervé Ladsous, the U.N under-secretary-general for peacekeeping operations, on the occasion of the International Day of Peacekeeping, discussing allegations addressed to his U.N. mission in Sudan’s Darfur (UNAMID).
The monthly Diplomatic Avenue show is presented by Al Arabiya News Channel’s New York Bureau Chief Talal al-Haj.
Diplomatic Avenue is beamed live every month from Al Arabiya’s studios in the United Nations. Presented by Talal al-Haj, the show features interviews with high-level diplomats and decision makers, with video reports focusing on recent diplomatic developments and pressing issues. The program casts a critical eye over the work of the U.N. and its agencies, not only on the political front, but also on the humanitarian, cultural and scientific levels. The show gives its audience an insight into what goes on within the halls and corridors of the U.N., with a special emphasis on issues that matter to the Arab and Islamic worlds.
