Iraq’s Chaldean patriarch talks about displaced Iraqi Christians
Friday, 22 August 2014
Chaldean Patriarch Louis Raphael Sako addresses the displacement of 100,000 Iraqi Christians during the current crisis with ISIS. Sako says he holds the United States responsible for the current vacuum due to its 2003 invasion of Iraq. He says Washington has a moral responsibility to protect all Iraqis.
Although he rejects forming Christian militias, he says self-defense is legitimate, natural and sacred. He speaks in great pain about the incapability of the Iraqi central government and the Kurdistan government to impose order and security.
