WATCH: How Saudi capital prepared for the arrival of US President

Saudis were making feverish preparations on Friday for the visit of US President Donald Trump.

The Saudi authorities are making every effort to dazzle and impress Trump on his first overseas trip, seizing on the visit to cement Saudi Arabia as a major player on the world stage.

The kingdom has arranged a dizzying schedule of events for the two days Trump will be in Riyadh.

Trump's decision to make Saudi Arabia his first overseas stop sends a powerful message to the kingdom: the strained ties that marked U.S.-Saudi relations under President Barack Obama are over.

Saudi information minister Awwad Saleh Al-Awwad told journalist as he was visiting the press centre in Riyadh that he is looking for the the summit to have a single united stance against terrorism and extremism.
