Syrian refugees gunned down by Assads forces at Jordanian border

Published: Updated:

Syrian refugees seeking shelter away from violence in the country are being gunned down by President Assad’s forces alongside the Jordanian border, a recent video has revealed.

The video, aired by Al Arabiya television on Sunday, showed several individuals struck down by the Syrian regime forces as they try to cross into Jordan.

Reporting from the area, Al Arabiya correspondent Rima Maktabi said Syrian refugees have been using illegal passages as a fleeing tactic to reach the safety net of the bordering countries.

She said since the escalating of the conflict, more than 144,000 refugees are reported to have entered Jordan.

Quoting some refugees who survived the journey, Maktabi said the regime has shelled convoys of refugees who were few miles away from reaching the Jordanian borders, causing the death of many.

Jordanian soldiers told Al Arabiya that the Syrian forces have spread out along the borders and is using airstrikes as a way to demolish citizens who are trying to reach Jordan.
