EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini asked the UN Security Council Monday to authorize an EU naval force in the Mediterranean to enforce the arms embargo on Libya.
The appeal came as the 15-member council was considering a draft resolution that would allow Operation Sofia to intercept on the high seas vessels suspected of transporting weapons to Libya.
