Dozens injured in attack on Egypt’s Tahrir Square

Published: Updated:

Dozens of Egyptian protesters were injured after unidentified men on motorcycles attacked and burnt their tents at dawn in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, Al Arabiya correspondent Ahmad Othman reported Thursday.

Protesters accused the Interior Ministry and the police of inciting thugs to carry out the attack.

Protesters said they saw some policemen among the thugs before their tents were attacked with Molotov cocktails, Egyptian daily al-Youm al-Sabea reported.

More than 30 attackers on motorcycles and trucks set fire to tents, chased protesters with knives, and opened fire on them, said Samia Ahmad, a doctor at the field hospital.
