Gunmen who attacked Nairobi’s Westgate mall on Saturday, September 21, took time to pray during the four-day siege, video footage from security cameras showed.
Material from closed-circuit television cameras in various outlets of the mall showed the attackers firing into the crowds and then systematically executing wounded victims.
More footage, obtained by Reuters on Friday (October 18), showed gunmen moving to a different room, spreading a prayer mat and performing prayers.
About 60 people died in the attack and the siege that followed, and more are still missing with reports on Thursday (October 17) that some body parts were recovered from the collapsed section of the mall.
Kenya has accused the Somalia group al-Shabaab of being behind the terror attack said to be in revenge for Kenya Defence Forces wresting control of the southern Somali port city of Kismayu from the group.
