Heavy rains force tunnels closure in Saudi Eastern Province
Authorities in the Saudi Eastern Province have closed three tunnels in the city of Dammam that were flooded by waters due to heavy rains.
Spokesman for the province’s Media and Public Relations Administration, Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Safyan, said that the tunnels were closed as a precaution in order to ensure the safety of drivers in the area.
Al-Safyan stressed that the decision was taken in accordance with the Traffic and Civil Defense Administration, adding that they will be reopened for traffic once weather conditions improve.
The General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection has warned citizens of further heavy rains and thunderstorms in a number of cities across the Saudi Eastern Province.
