Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Kuwait on Sunday as part of a Gulf tour that the Russian foreign ministry said would also include the UAE and Qatar to discuss the Syrian issue and the Gulf crisis.
The Russian ambassador to Kuwait, Alexei Solomatin, told the Kuwaiti newspaper ‘Al-Jarida’ that “the visit comes within the efforts of Russia to support the Kuwaiti mediation to solve the crisis.”
The ambassador added that the visit will address the situation in Syria and discuss international and regional issues of common concern.
