Saudi Arabia’s air defense forces intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile fired from Yemen targeting the city of Jazan.
Colonel Turki al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the Arab Coalition in Yemen, said that the missile was fired from Saada and was targeting Saudi land at about 1:58am.
He added that the militia was targeting civilian areas, but Saudi air defense forces were able to intercept and destroy the missile before it reached its target.
Maliki said that the interception caused some shrapnel and debris to fall on some residential areas but there were no injuries or damages done.
Maliki said that this attack by the Iran-backed militia proves Iran’s involvement with the Houthis, and is violating UN resolutions 2231 and 2216 by threatening the security of Saudi Arabia and the region. He added that firing ballistic missiles on residential areas is against international human laws.
