Saudi Arabia’s Royal Air Defense Force (RAF) on Friday intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi militia from within the Yemeni territory of Saada province toward the city of Jazan in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the spokesman for the forces of the Coalition in support of legitimacy in Yemen, Colonel Turki al-Maliki, said that “the missile was in the direction of the city of Jazan, and was deliberately launched to target civilian and populated areas. The Saudi Royal Air Defense was able to intercept and destroy the missile. "
“No casualties or damage were recorded when the missile was intercepted,” he said.
Maliki said that “this act of hostility by the Houthi militia backed by Iran proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in clear defiance of UN resolutions No. 2216, and No. 2231, in order to threaten the security of Saudi Arabia and regional and international security. The launch of ballistic missiles towards populated cities and villages is contrary to international law.”
He pointed out that “a total of 195 ballistic missiles have been launched by the Houthi militia backed by Iran toward Saudi Arabia so far since the Houthi coup on legitimacy in Yemen.”
