Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa said that Saudi Arabia is the target and not the truth when it comes to the case of the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
On his official Twitter account on Friday, al-Khalifa said: “The target is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and not the search for any truth. Throw your masks away for we are with her (Saudi Arabia) with our souls.”
A number of other ministers announced their countries’ support for Saudi Arabia including the UAE’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash.
Both ministers announced that the UAE stands with Saudi Arabia, and that there is a “fierce campaign against Riyadh”, as well as a coordination between inciting parties.
Khashoggi is a Saudi citizen and journalist who went missing in Istanbul on October 2. Saudi Arabia’s consulate said that they are coordinating with Turkish authorities and US investigation teams to uncover what happened to Khashoggi after he left the consulate.
