Yemeni army advances in Hodeidah, retakes university and air defense camp

Published: Updated:

Fighting between the Yemeni armed forces against the Houthi militias on several fronts in the west coast city of Hodeidah continued for the second day, aided by Arab coalition fighter jets.

Sources said on Saturday that the national forces advanced their positions in Hodeidah and retook control of the university and the air defense camp as Houthi militias retreated after facing heavy losses.

The areas east of Hodeidah witnessed violent clashes, as the Giant’s Brigade made incursions in the area of Kilo 16 at the eastern entrance of Hodeidah and deterred Houthi attacks.

The Arab coalition fighter jets also launched airstrikes on the Houthi militias’ posts in the areas east of Hodeidah killing around 30 Houthi fighters and injuring dozens others.

The coalition’s forces sent warnings to fishermen in the area to stay away from all islands near Hodeidah and to avoid approaching the southwestern coast of the city. It also called on citizens to evacuate the areas where the raids are taking place.
