Schools, government offices and financial institutions in Kuwait were forced to close down on Tuesday due to bad weather the Gulf country has been experiencing.

Kuwait's bourse said it is halting operations on Tuesday due to bad weather and heavy rains that first began on Monday night and continued into the early hours of the morning, the state news agency KUNA reported.

Kuwait has been facing heavy rains. Earlier on Tuesday Kuwait Airways said no flights had been canceled at Kuwait airport as a result of the weather.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Airways said on Tuesday that no flights had been cancelled at Kuwait airport as a result of bad weather, clarifying its statement in an earlier tweet.

Kuwait Airways said no flights were canceled after it sent an earlier tweet that operations had been halted due to bad weather.

For its part, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior appealed to citizens and residents to stay indoors unless necessary, because of the presence of water floods on the main streets, according KUNA.
