Kuwaiti minister of public works, Hossam Abdullah al-Roumi, resigned over flood crisis on Friday, according to state news agancy KUNA.
In his resignation, Roumi expressed his “utmost regret” over the damages of citizens’ and residents’ properties and belongings following heavy rains on the country.
Roumi said: “Everybody knows that I am serious about my job in the ministry of public works, and I was keen on putting maximum effort into developing the work, preserving the public money, fighting corruption, and working alongside my fellow ministers under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah, and abiding by the instructions of His Highness, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, and His Highness Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, God bless them both.”
“Out of my moral responsibility ... I have submitted my resignation to the President(Kuwaiti Emir),” Roumi said.
