Saudi border guards rescue Turkish sailor suffering medical condition

Published: Updated:

Saudi maritime patrols by border guards at the King Abdulaziz Port Security Unit in Dammam led to the accompaniment of a commercial vessel to shore on Friday, after receiving a call that a Turkish sailor on board suffered an emergency medical condition, spokesman of the Border Guards Commodore Saher bin Mohammed Al-Harbi said.

The guards received a call at 11:25 am from the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (DMRCC) who informed them about the critical condition of the 28-year-old crewmember on the merchant vessel who needed to be immediately evacuated. Harbi said that this occurred within the framework of the guards’ search and rescue training.

The border guards located the ship, evacuated the sailor and transferred him to the hospital in coordination with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
