Nine people who were infected with the virus have been cured, raising the total number of cured patients to 44, the ministry added.

The nine recovered cases include six nationals, one Egyptian, one Thai, and one other person of an undisclosed nationality.

Those who have shown signs of recovery are only allowed to leave quarantine after test results prove that they no longer have the virus, the ministry said.

A total of 77 Bahrain citizens evacuated from Iran tested positive for coronavirus, the health ministry said on Wednesday. The ministry had evacuated 165 citizens from coronavirus-hit Iran on Tuesday, bringing them back to Bahrain on a chartered plane.

Many of the recorded cases of coronavirus in the Arabian Gulf are linked to travel with Iran.

Bahrain accused Iran on Thursday of “biological aggression” by covering up the spread of the coronavirus and failing to stamp the passports of Bahraini travelers.
