“This agreement will strengthen the ability of consular staff to protect the interests of citizens and advance national interests, and is a testament to the value that the United States and the UAE place on the safety and morale of their consular teams,” it added.

“The UAE continues to be an important strategic partner in maintaining stability in the Gulf, protecting American interests in the Middle East, and ensuring the free flow of commerce throughout the Gulf region. We are grateful for the strong bilateral partnership we continue to have with the UAE and look forward to future initiatives,” the statement read.

The agreement was announced a month after the US-brokered UAE-Israel peace deal, which was announced at the White House on August 13.

The UAE-Israel deal was struck following what officials said were 18 months of talks, the UAE agreed to normalize relations with Israel, while Israel agreed to continue with plans to suspend its annexation of the West Bank.

UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed arrived in Washington on Sunday, leading the delegation to the signing ceremony of the UAE-Israel peace deal hosted by US President Donald Trump.

The signing ceremony will take place on Tuesday, in the presence of Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
