The father of Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, was released on Saturday during a prisoner-exchange deal that was conducted with members of the Free Syrian Army.

Mekadad’s 84-year-old father was abducted two weeks ago from his home in the village of Ghossom in the province of Daraa.

In a video aired on Al Arabiya news channel shows Mekdad’s father was being escorted by three FSA members.

A bus full of detainees, who are part of the exchange deal, can also been seen in the video.

Numerous citizens were seen walking through destroyed buildings, Al Arabiya TV said they were most likely the prisoners and their families. Women and children were among those detained.

Mekdad was quoted by a Syrian daily newspaper saying his father is now in a safe place.
