Al Arabiya camera captures Saudi Arabia’s war on drug smuggling

Published: Updated:

Al Arabiya television will broadcast Friday a documentary film that follows Saudi security forces, alongside customs and border guards, combatting smugglers of drugs and other prohibited material.

For the first time ever, Al Arabiya television camera enters the security forces’ dangerous world of bringing drug smugglers to justice.

Over the last three years, 120,000 smugglers have been arrested in the Kingdom. Smugglers have adopted increasingly ingenious ways to sneak in contraband, and uncovering these methods has been an uphill battle for Saudi security forces, which have seized 25 percent of the world’s confiscated dope supply.

As Saudi security officials say in the documentary, “If complete victory in this war is not possible, defeat is forbidden.”
