Egypt summons Turkish ambassador over stance on Mursi’s overthrow

Published: Updated:

Egypt’s foreign ministry summoned Turkey’s ambassador to Cairo on Tuesday in protest against “Ankara’s interference in Egyptian affairs.”

The Egyptian move came after Turkey described the overthrow of former president Mohammad Mursi as “unacceptable coup.”

Turkey’s response to last week’s military intervention was seen in Egypt as the strongest reaction from overseas.
