Attallah al-Hubaishi al-Johani successfully underwent a kidney transplant at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam after his son volunteered his kidney, Al-Madinah Arabic daily reported Saturday. Both father and son were doing well after the operation.
Al-Johani suffered kidney failure several years ago and had to undergo dialysis three times a week. His son, Muhammad, urged his father to accept his kidney, a request that al-Johani turned down for two years before finally agreeing.
“The days I had to go for four-hour dialysis treatments were really bad days. I used to be exhausted and was of no use for anything,” al-Johani recalled from his hospital bed.
“I thank him and express my love to him. I’m incapable of thanking him enough. May Allah reward him for his deed. I pray to Allah to enable him to lead a happy life in this world and the Hereafter,” he added.
