Dubai police have arrested an Uzbek woman who threatened to blow up a government building in an attempt to force officials to discuss a paternity dispute, an Al Arabiya correspondent reported late Sunday.
Earlier, negotiators were in contact with the woman in the standoff in the building’s lobby, the Associated Press reported a statement from Dubai’s Media Office as saying.
The statement issued Sunday described the woman’s complaint as linked to her efforts to prove a man was the father of her child.
Dubai authorities said they evacuated the government building in response to the woman’s threats.
It is unclear whether the woman accompanied by her child had an explosive device.
