The civil defense in Riyadh reported on Saturday the drowning six girls in one of the marshes in east of the capital.

The civil defense spokesman in Riyadh said that the department received a call on Saturday afternoon regarding the incident.

The aviation wing of the emergency service Red Crescent helped transfer the victims out of the area, taking only six minutes to arrive at the scene, according to Red Crescent chief Abdulrahman Alkhudairi.

The Saudi Arabian civil defense regularly warns citizens from swimming in the marshes especially during turbulent weather.

The civil defense recovered more than 45 bodies last year due to the rain and the proximity of the marshes to the valleys, making the area very dangerous for civilians.

Al Arabiya correspondent said that four of the girls were taken from the awter by their parents in the afternoon. The other two girls brought out by the civil defense at 4 am due to bad signal and weather conditions.
