Saudi king appoints new ministers in cabinet reshuffle
Ministries of Islamic affairs, higher education and communication are among those with new appointments
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia appointed on Monday nine ministers in a cabinet reshuffle, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Among those replaced are minister of Islamic affairs, endowments, call and guidance, minister of higher education, minister of culture and information, minister of communications and information technology, minister of social affairs, minister of agriculture, and minister of transport.
In an interview with Al Arabiya News Channel, Communication Minister Fahad bin Shafaq al-Hamad noted the “pivotal role of communication in the Saudi economy and the service of other sectors.”
He said thanks to recent progress in the sector, “We’ve come a long way in electronic trading.”
