Social media reports about the appointment of a new imam for the Prophet's Mosque in the holy Saudi city of Madinah have been refuted by the organization responsible for its management.
“There is no truth to these reports that have been widely circulated on social media,” said the official spokesman of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Prophet's Mosque, Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Mansouri.
The reports claimed on Monday that Sheikh Saeed Al-Dahmoush had been appointed an imam at the Prophet's Mosque. Al-Mansouri said the appointment of any new imam for the Prophet's Mosque would be publicly announced.
He asked the media to be accurate when publishing any news about the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madinah.
