The pan-Arab daily newspaper Asharq al-Awsat has condemned the Houthi militias’ capture of one its journalists in Sanaa, Hamdan Al Rahbi, in a statement published Tuesday.

The newspaper’s statement added that it held the Houthi - that control Sanaa - responsible for the safety of Rahbi and its other correspondents.

Asharq al- Awsat editor in chief, Salman Addousari, said: “Those constant violations that our colleagues face are the price we pay for the high professionalism of the coverage of Asharq AlAwsat of the events in Yemen.” And he added: “We stand in solidarity with Arrahbi and all our correspondents [in Yemen].”
