Funeral prayers for former Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal were held on Saturday night at the Grand Mosque of Makkah.

Earlier on Saturday, Al Arabiya News Channel has shown footage of a flag-draped coffin carrying the body of Prince Saud as it arrived in Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport.

The prince will be buried in the holy city of Makkah after evening prayers in the Grand Mosque.

Royal family members and international envoys took part in the funeral to offer their condolences.

Prince Saud, who was born in 1940, died in the United States on Thursday.

He was the world's longest-serving foreign minister and oversaw four decades of turbulent diplomacy for the oil-rich kingdom.
