On the third day of the Saudi popular campaign to help the people of Syria, a total of more than $75 million (SAR 279 million) has been collected as donations in cash from all over the Kingdom. According to a Saudi Gazette report, the telethon, called ‘Together for Syria’s Relief,’ is covered live on Saudi television Channel 1.

The total amount of donations in cash collected up to 12.30 am on Friday reached SAR 279,404,318 during the campaign which will conclude later in the day, according to the Saudi television.

It was earlier reported that the Popular Campaign for Relief of Syrian people continued receiving donations, where the total cash donations to the campaign has reached so far an amount of SR 202,601,109. King Salman had initially launched this humanitarian aid campaign on Tuesday to collect 100 million Saudi riyals ($27 million) to help Syrians.

King Salman donated 20 million riyals of his own money to the campaign, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef had donated 10 million, and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had contributed 8 million.

“Donations were limited to money and we did not collect in-kind assistance, considering the distance between Saudi Arabia and Syria,” Rabeeah said, adding that they’re communicating with the concerned parties to deliver the donations to refugees.

“Collecting this big amount of money during a short period of time indicates the humanity of the Saudi people and their faith in standing by their Muslim brothers,” he also said.

Rabeeah added that the campaign ‘Together for Syria’s Relief’, will last for three days in the kingdom.

According to Rabeeah, the campaign is part of the aid and humanitarian programs the kingdom provides for Syrian refugees.
He added that the popular campaign will contribute to easing the Syrian refugees’ suffering during this winter season.

The campaign said that the donation for Syrians is being conducted via text messages (SMS) by all telecommunications companies through the unified number (5565), and sending No (1) to donate SR10, (2) for SR 20, or No. (3) for SR 30, or by depositing donations through the following accounts:
