Iraqi security sources told Al Arabiya that at least 17 people were killed and 60 more injured in a rigged truck bomb early Wednesday near a search checkpoint at the southern entrance to Baghdad.
Sources confirmed that an assailant blew up the truck among other vehicles that were being searched at the checkpoint, which lead to them catching fire.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it comes amid fighting between Iraqi forces and ISIS in Mosul.
