ISIS without leadership as militants begin burning archives in old Mosul

ISIS militants started to burn their archives and records, which they depend on in old Mosul, as per what was confirmed by a security source in the counter-terrorism forces, on Tuesday, considering that burning the archive is clear evidence of a major collapse for ISIS.

A security source told Al Arabiya that “the militants began to burn large quantities of archives of its main offices, including Al Hessbah, Army offices, and Diwan of Zakat and others belonging to ISIS militants - in the headquarters that were burned close to residential areas, after the evacuation of its fighters.”

“ISIS’s burning of archives comes to prevent the detection of its crimes against civilians, in addition to an attempt to blur the identity of its supporters who backed militants in committing crimes against innocent people,” the source added, stressing “the burning of archives is a clear indication of a major collapse in ISIS militants.”

The source highlighted that “the battle for the liberation of old Mosul will end very soon, especially after the heavy defeats the militants are suffering every day, as well as the escaping batches of prominent ISIS leaders from Iraq to Syria and elsewhere prior the beginning of the battle of liberation of west Mosul.”

The militants now experience an absence of prominent leaders as they are either killed in battles or have escaped, which has created confusion and lack of control over, as a consequences they lost control over areas and ran away from the neighborhoods of Mosul towards the Old City.
