US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Lebanese Hezbollah has active cells in Venezuela, in an interview with Fox Business channel on Wednesday.
Pompeo was responding to a question on whether Venezuela was more of a threat because of the presence of “bad actors” with links to Hezbollah.
“People don’t recognize that Hezbollah has active cells. The Iranians are impacting the people of Venezuela and throughout South America,” the Secretary of State said.
“We have an obligation to take down that risk for America,” he added.

Pompeo also said that part of what will be talked about in Warsaw would be how to deal with such threats in South America and all across the globe, referring to the Iran-focused global summit next week in Poland.
Hezbollah is considered a terrorist organization by the United States and the Arab League.
