Two Katyusha rockets fell inside Iraq's Balad air base, 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, which houses US forces on Saturday but caused no casualties, two security sources told Reuters.
In a seperate incident, a mortar fell in the vicinity of Mosul’s Nineveh Operation Command headquarters, according to Al Arabiya sources.
There are reports of several mortars hitting the al-Kindi military base in northern Mosul, according to Al Arabiya’s correspondent.
The attacks came at the same time as several rockets fell on Saturday near the United States embassy in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone which houses government buildings and foreign missions but caused no casualties, the Iraqi military said.
